Position Overview

Position Duties

Senior Accountant – Administrative Services Division (ASD): Support reporting and auditing requirements related to bond and commercial paper financing mechanisms used to fund capital improvements at the San José–Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility (RWF) and the Municipal Water System.

ASD responsibilities include bond compliance reporting for external agencies and bond auditing operations, cash position accounting for RWF tributary agencies, overseeing Debt-related draws and debt service, overseeing future bond issuance operations, managing Municipal Water System cash positions, supervising accounting staff, attending GFOA trainings, and performing year-end close activities and audits.

Typical duties also include cross-training with other Senior Accountants and performing ad hoc accounting assignments as needed.

Senior Accountant – Regional Water Facility (RWF) Team: Lead and manage the RWF Fiscal Unit (six team members), train and mentor staff, provide performance feedback, facilitate CIP budgeting, prepare budgetary and accounting information for TAC/TPAC, oversee timekeeping for ~600 employees, administer grant accounting, lead facility accounting services, manage customer/vendor accounts, and oversee fixed assets and asset allocations. Lead the RWF CIP Engineering Team through capital budget scenarios and coordinate with auditors during the annual year-end process.

Ensure timely customer service and support for RWF operations, including asset management and vendor relations.

Qualifications

Education : Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field, including at least 18 semester units in accounting subjects.

Experience : Four (4) years of experience at the working level of a professional accountant.
