Job Title: Financial Analyst II
Location: Atlantic Health – Morristown Medical Center (100 Madison Avenue, Morristown, NJ)
This position will be based out of Atlantic Health – Morristown Medical Center. Atlantic Health is seeking a full‑time Financial Analyst II for the Fiscal Services department at Morristown Medical Center.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities
Collaborate with the CFO and Finance team to develop, monitor, and analyze financial performance metrics, budgets, and forecasts.
Generate detailed financial reports—including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, variance analyses, and trend reports.
Conduct in‑depth financial analysis to identify trends, outliers, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement.
Assist in preparation of the annual operating budget for the site, troubleshooting any issues with the budget analyst and CFO.
Work with the accounting team to facilitate month‑end close and variance reporting.
Utilize HBI/HPM cost accounting system to provide contribution margin analysis reports to aid in strategic decision making.
Assist in the development and evaluation of strategic financial plans, capital expenditure proposals, and business cases for new initiatives.
Provide support in evaluating the financial impact of potential contracts, partnerships, and business development opportunities.
Monitor and assess key performance indicators (KPIs) related to hospital operations, revenue generation, and expense management.
Collaborate with department heads to gather and analyze financial data, ensuring accuracy and consistency across various departments.
Contribute to the preparation of financial presentations for executive leadership and board meetings.
Assist in the preparation of financial models and scenarios to support long‑term financial planning and risk assessment.
Participate in the annual budgeting process, providing insights and recommendations to align budget allocations with strategic goals.
Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices in healthcare finance.
Support ad‑hoc financial projects and initiatives as directed by the CFO.
Analyze productivity metrics across MMC.
Assist in implementation and completion of any external benchmarking engagement.
Utilize external benchmarks to drive productivity across the system.
Assist (as needed) with on‑site productivity meetings with department leadership and staff.
Other duties as assigned.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Health Care Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
Experience & Qualifications
Minimum of 1‑3 years of progressive experience in financial analysis, preferably within a healthcare or hospital environment.
Proficiency with MS Office Applications.
Knowledge of HPM, EPIC, and Axiom strongly preferred.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.
Proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting techniques.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information to non‑financial stakeholders.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software applications.
Attention to detail, accuracy, and a strong sense of accountability.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
Knowledge of healthcare regulations and reimbursement methodologies is advantageous.
Strong ethical standards and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
