Overview
Public Works is seeking an Information Specialist III to join their Engineering Division in Pike Lake (Duluth). This position is part of the Civil Service Basic Union Contract represented by Council 5 of AFSCME.

Responsibilities

Routinely work and interact with staff and the public by phone, email, and in person.

Handle Accounts Payable and Receivable.

Process payroll for staff in two separate bargaining units with distinct guidelines for each.

Complete new employee processing.

Assist current employees with questions.

Maintain accurate and efficient office filing systems.

Qualifications

Permanent status as an Information Specialist II; or three (3) years as an Information Specialist I or an Office Assistant; or five (5) years of full‑time paid verifiable clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by the Director of Human Resources.

Demonstrated ability to operate personal computer‑based systems.

Proficiency in word‑processing software as defined by the Civil Service Commission.

Typing speed of 40 words per minute from clear copy.
