Overview
The Mosquito Technician role provides a quality, professional service with courtesy, safety, and dependability, focused on preventing the spread of diseases through mosquito control. Responsibilities include mosquito surveillance, preventative services, and large-scale spraying as part of a broader portfolio of pest control services.
Responsibilities
Routinely inspect control zones for potential mosquito breeding habitat and the presence of mosquito larvae by visual inspection and dipping.
Assess each inspection site and use appropriate control techniques, such as no action, source reduction, biological control, public education, and chemical control (including the application of larvicides and/or adulticides at labeled application rates).
Place and retrieve monitoring devices as needed to assess mosquito populations.
Accurately record all findings and control activities on the appropriate log sheet and GPS unit, and enter data into the company database as required by the contract.
Be thoroughly familiar with all applicable chemical labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and handle/apply all chemicals according to label specifications.
Know and follow proper safety and spill procedures at all times, and use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) regularly.
Communicate respectfully, honestly, and knowledgeably to residents during service request inspections, routine larvicide activities, or any other public relations activities.
Know and follow the proper and safe operations of all equipment used.
Mix pesticides and fill sprayers accurately, following all required safety precautions for the application of products.
Respond to change promptly and effectively, and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
Demonstrate solid reading, writing, and verbal communication skills and the ability to present information in internal and external settings.
Essential Job Functions
Work comfortably in self-directed conditions after an initial training period.
Work is performed outdoors and may involve exposure to weather, challenging terrain, pesticides, dust and airborne particulates, excessive noise, biting insects, hazardous plants, and animals.
Must be capable of lifting and using items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Safely operate a motor vehicle and keep all equipment clean.
What You Need
Attention to detail and strong communication skills (verbal and written).
Willingness to learn and gain knowledge in pest control.
High school diploma or GED; related experience/training or an equivalent combination.
Valid driver’s license from your state of residence.
Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide; follow mixing instructions on product labels).
Licenses/certificates as required by federal, state, and local regulations (covered by us).
Customer-facing experience is preferred.
Base Pay Range
Hourly: $15.00 - $25.00
