Salary Range: $45,000 - $87,000

Role
The CMM Programmer is responsible for the management and operation of CMM measuring instruments and programs. This includes ensuring procedures are followed, resolving quality‑related issues, periodic inspection and calibration of measuring instruments to ensure measurement reliability, generation of reports, tracking of data, and recommendation of process improvements.

Responsibilities

Program, operate, and maintain Zeiss coordinate measuring machines (CMM) systems to ensure that products meet the highest standards of quality and precision.

Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements to ensure accurate measurement and reporting.

Perform precise dimensional inspections and analyze measurement data to ensure compliance with engineering specifications.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to CMM programs, fixturing and measuring instruments to maintain smooth operational performance.

Work closely with engineering and production teams during product validation processes and to solve quality problems in manufacturing.

Devise strategies for system enhancements to assure long‑range integrity and cost effectiveness of the measurement system.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree (or equivalent) in a technical field, or a combination of education and experience.

More than 3 years of experience with Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programming and operating in a 3D measuring environment (Zeiss Calypso experience preferred).

Experience in precision machining (aerospace defense) industry environment.

Able to communicate in basic English.

Knowledge of CMM operation capabilities and manual measuring instruments.

In‑depth understanding of technical documentation (drawings, specifications, etc.).

Basic knowledge of product defect analysis and process management.

Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.

Strong communication, interpersonal, problem‑solving, and teamwork skills.

Physical Demands

Hand and finger use/dexterity – frequent manipulation of tools and instruments.

Standing/walking – presence at work station for prolonged periods.

Lifting/carrying – transport of materials and tools as needed.

Bending/twisting/reaching – occasional flexibility required.

Repetitive motions – operation of machines involves repetitive actions.

Environmental factors – exposure to hazardous equipment, noise, and protective equipment usage.
