
Facilities Technician

Role Purpose
The Facilities Technician is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning and maintenance of all facility-related systems and equipment. The Facilities Technician will perform highly diversified duties to include managing building infrastructure, general facility upkeep and repairs, fabrication and assembly, and assistance with operations equipment PMs as necessary.
Accountabilities & Impact
Safety / Food Safety
Adhere to all Plant and Safety policies and procedures, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Conduct safety inspections and implement corrective actions to address hazards and mitigate risks.
Building Maintenance
Conduct routine inspections of the facility (inside and outside) to identify and address maintenance needs, including repairs and general upkeep (lighting, walls, floors, filtration, and mechanical systems).
Perform minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repairs as necessary.
Perform clean‑up, painting, and housekeeping duties.
Monitor and maintain the Building Management System that includes HVAC systems to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Coordinate with external contractors for major repairs or renovations.
Environmental Compliance
Assist in implementing environmental sustainability initiatives and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations when using, dispensing, or handling hazardous and non‑hazardous materials and waste.
Documentation
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs and inspections.
Ensure PMs, work order paperwork is completed and utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Software to track completion of assigned work.
Team Collaboration
Work closely with production and other departments to coordinate activities without disrupting the manufacturing process and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Inventory Management
Maintain inventory of facility maintenance supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.
Coordinate with procurement to order supplies and materials as needed.
Communication
Escalate concerns to supervisor as it relates to safety, quality, performance goals, productivity, continuous improvement, and teamwork/harmony.
Process Improvement
Work directly with leadership to develop and execute projects involving continuous improvement, equipment and/or facility upgrades, and the permanent corrective measures of recurring problems.
Perform other various job duties as required.
Skills & Experiences Needed
High School diploma or equivalent.
1–3 years of facilities maintenance experience (e.g., apartment complex, hotel, warehouse); general plant electrical, mechanical, and plumbing required.
Forklift, Scissor Lift, and Boom Lift experience.
Experience sourcing parts and materials for general plant upkeep.
Experience using electronic testing equipment.
Proficient in computer and software skills such as MS Office (Excel, Word, Email) and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Working Conditions
This position is exposed to occupational hazards, including but not limited to high noise levels, physical obstacles, exposure to chemicals, etc.
Subject to extreme heat/cold temperatures.
Must have sufficient endurance to perform tasks over long periods of time.
Fast‑paced and constantly changing work environment.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand/move 8–12 hours per day.
Ability to ascend/descend stairs/ladders throughout shift.
Fine motor skills and dexterity for manipulation.
Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including bump cap, safety steel toe shoes, safety glasses, dust masks or PAPRs.
Must adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
