Job Summary
This is manual work involving unskilled and limited semi‑skilled duties. The work primarily involves heavy tasks that do not require a high degree of manipulative skill. As experience is gained, employees may be assigned to somewhat more difficult tasks of a limited semi‑skilled nature. The work is usually closely supervised; specific instructions are provided at the beginning of each new job. Once routine tasks are learned, constant supervision is not necessary.

Responsibilities

Washes walls and ceilings, moves furniture and equipment, and performs related custodial work.

Performs related building maintenance, grounds, and custodial tasks as required.

Completes all floor maintenance duties.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Provides routine laboring tasks for semi‑skilled and skilled workers such as setting up, cleaning work tools, minor construction work, and running errands.

Pressure washes when needed.

Rakes and loads grass and brush; mows lawns and cleans grounds; waters plants and assists in the care of shrubs, flowers, and grass.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

Valid Driver's License.

At least one (1) year of experience in floor maintenance.

Abilities and Knowledge

Ability to exhibit a positive attitude and to deal with coworkers, students, faculty, and staff tactfully and courteously in order to maintain effective service‑oriented relationships.

Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions.

Knowledge of proper custodial service practices, techniques, and procedures.

Knowledge of the operation and use of equipment, tools, and supplies used in building maintenance.
