This position is located in the Business Office in the Houma Subdistrict 02 office. It functions as DOTD procurement and requires extensive knowledge of DOTD procurement and accounting policies and procedures in accordance with Louisiana and federal guidelines. The incumbent participates in a Career Progression Group (CPG) with the highest level of Accounting Technician (AS 611). The incumbent must be self‑motivated and able to perform duties independently with little to no supervision on a daily basis.

Minimum Qualifications
One year of experience or training in accounting, auditing, bookkeeping, or financial operations or computations.
Experience Substitution
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Job Duties
Accounting Services: receives, prepares, and enters invoices from external vendors for payment daily, ensuring accurate processing of all payables and consistent coding with district budget allocation and policy; audits expenditures prior to payment, confirms validity of charges, and ensures proper coding.
Records contract payables via Standard or Confirming Purchase Order, requiring knowledge of DOTD procurement policies.
Reconciles invoice, goods receipt, and purchase order, processes payment.
Audits inventory levels for contract items against goods receipt for correct posting to each storage location.
Creates and forwards payable package to Financial Services via Content Manager daily.
Serves as liaison with vendors and internal/external customers regarding payment information and discrepancies; creates and implements Vendor Registration process for new vendors.

Vacancies may be filled as an Accounting Specialist 1–2 or Accounting Technician based on applicant experience. Salary ranges: Accounting Specialist 1 – $15.43/hour; Accounting Specialist 2 – $16.51/hour; Accounting Technician – $18.90/hour.
Appointment Type
May be filled as Detail to Special Duty or a Probationary appointment requiring 6–24 months on probation.
