Step into a role where your hands turn good parts into great ones. As a Precision Metal Finishing Technician, you’ll bring sheet metal components to spec through expert grinding, deburring, and final finishing—ensuring every piece is smooth, accurate, and production-ready.
A day in the life
Start by reviewing blueprints and work instructions, aligning your plan with tight quality targets.
Use hand grinders, deburring tools, and automated finishing equipment to remove burrs, sharp edges, and surface flaws.
Check your work with calipers, micrometers, and visual/tactile inspection to verify dimensional accuracy and surface consistency.
Collaborate with machine operators, welders, and inspectors to keep jobs moving and on schedule.
Maintain a clean, safe workstation—disposing of shavings and dust per safety and environmental guidelines.
What you’ll own
Consistent, spec-accurate surface finishes that meet customer and industry standards.
Proactive quality checks—identifying defects, inconsistencies, and improvement ideas and sharing them with supervisors.
Upkeep of finishing equipment and the correct use of PPE (gloves, safety glasses, respirators).
Material handling and part organization within the finishing area; cross‑training support as needed.
What you’ll bring
1+ year of grinding, deburring, or metal finishing experience in manufacturing (precision sheet metal a plus).
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Comfort with hand grinders, deburring tools, and finishing systems.
Ability to read blueprints and follow work instructions and quality standards.
Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity for small precision parts, and a dependable work ethic.
Team‑first mindset with the ability to work independently when needed.
Work environment and physical demands
Stand for extended periods; bend, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs.; perform repetitive tasks.
Exposure to metal dust, noise, and varying temperatures in a production setting.
Frequent interaction with production, engineering, quality, and management teams.
PPE (gloves, safety glasses, respirators) required.
Schedule
6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, Monday – Friday
2:15 PM – 10:45 PM, Monday – Friday
Some flexibility may be required based on production needs
Compensation & benefits
Hourly Rate: $18 – $24 per hour
Shared‑cost health care, paid holidays, paid time off, and a 401(k) with company match after a waiting period
