Visiting Lecturer, Early Modern European Art History (1300-1700)
Position: Full‑time Lecturer in Early Modern European Art History at the University of Illinois at Urbana‑Champaign. The appointment is a one‑year, non‑tenure‑track position (up to 100% time, up to 9 months). Proposed start date: August 16 2026.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Art History or related field by start date.
Specialist in Early Modern art (1300‑1700). Experience teaching courses on European art in this period.
Capacity to work with studio‑art, design, art‑history majors, and graduate students.
Enthusiastic about participation in an art school within a research university.
Preferred: research on connections between Europe and other parts of the world; ability to broaden methodological approaches; demonstrated ability to teach across multiple populations.
Responsibilities
Teach a 3‑course load per semester, including introductory lecture courses on Early Modern European art and undergraduate/graduate seminars related to expertise/interest. Existing courses listed at http://catalog.illinois.edu/courses-of-instruction/arth/.
Appointment Information
12‑month, 100% full‑time academic position. Salary range: $60,000–$63,000 annually. Eligible for sponsorship for work authorization (except new H1B petition fee).
