Department Summary
Department of Art and Art History offers BA, BFA, MA, and MFA degrees. Accredited by NASAD. Responsibilities

Teach upper-division undergraduate survey courses, focusing on History of Contemporary and New Media Art since 1960.

May teach lower-division General Education courses in Art History and Visual Culture.

Contribute to dynamic department encouraging cross-disciplinary practice between studio art and contemporary art criticism.

Engage recent debates in new media and contemporary art practices.

Address needs of a diverse student population regarding age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language, academic preparation, using inclusive materials and strategies.

Participate in 1–2 faculty meetings per semester and provide assessment data and information to the department.

Use Canvas LMS to organize classes.

Ensure classes meet as scheduled terms in the designated mode.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in art history or equivalent field and teaching experience at university level.

Strong writing skills and ability to direct and assess student writing.

Scholarly engagement in design history evidenced by presentations and publications.

Awareness and sensitivity to educational goals of multicultural population; experience in cross-cultural study, training, teaching.

Compensation
Compensation and salary range placement determined by qualifications and experience. Anticipated starting salary: L‑A Range 2: $5,507–$5,959; L‑B Range 3: $6,221–$7,481; L‑C Range 4: $6,825–$9,431; L‑D Range 5: $8,593–$10,347. Rates represent anticipated monthly salary for full‑time AY faculty; part‑time rates prorated.
