Position Overview Spokane Middle School is seeking a dynamic and engaging educator to teach at the middle school level. The ideal candidate will foster creativity, confidence, and strong communication skills in students while creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities Teach middle school courses in Theatre, Speech & Debate, and Yearbook
Develop and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans
Introduce students to acting, performance, and basic theatre production elements
Teach public speaking, communication strategies, and introductory debate skills
Create a positive classroom environment that encourages participation and collaboration
Assess student progress and provide timely feedback
Organize classroom performances, presentations, or showcase opportunities
Collaborate with colleagues and participate in school activities and events
Qualifications Bachelor\'s degree in Education, Theatre, Communications, or related field
Valid teaching certification (or ability to obtain certification)
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Passion for working with middle school students
Experience in theatre, speech, debate, or public speaking preferred
Preferred Skills Ability to engage and motivate diverse learners
Experience directing or assisting with student performances
Knowledge of basic debate formats and public speaking techniques
Strong organizational and collaboration skills
