Overview
Business Development Manager (BDM) at Emery Jensen, responsible for expanding our footprint across the Northeast by winning and converting high‑value Pro Lumber, Paint, and Hardware customers. This hunter role focuses on full-conversion opportunities, positioning Emery Jensen as the primary distributor and shaping our customers’ long‑term success.

Location
Position in Colorado, targeting candidates residing in close proximity to Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and Fountain, CO.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain a weekly prospect pipeline and stay accountable for the full 12‑month sales cycle.

Increase top‑line sales while targeting prospects with a clear understanding of ROI, customer lifetime value, and Emery Jensen’s financial model.

Demonstrate a basic understanding of the levers that create profitable customer relationships and develop sales approaches accordingly.

Research, pursue, and open prospective customers in defined sales channels, articulating and executing the Emery Jensen value proposition.

Present pre‑ and post‑call plans showing measurable improvement toward conversion, including decision makers, business focus, competition, opportunities, solutions, ROI, and customer lifetime value.

Utilize EJD marketing and merchandising materials to present solutions strategically.

Participate in national industry organizations (NRLA, NLBMDA, etc.), attend industry events with a plan to sign prospective customers, and build relationships with field sales teams from national partners.

Communicate with Territory Managers and plan transition of newly opened accounts.

Manage expenses related to travel, meetings, membership, and conversion resources within budget constraints.

Attend industry trade shows with a show plan to further business development efforts.

Qualifications

College degree or equivalent required.

Minimum 3 years in new business development or territory manager position.

Comfortable with cold calling and proven track record of success.

Knowledge/experience in the hard‑lines industry preferred.

Existing book of business highly preferred.

Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Business Intelligence, CRM tools.

Travel 60‑75% of the time; must reside in one of the preferred locations listed above.

Compensation
$98,000 – $110,000 base per year.
