Role Summary
The Family Law Attorney will manage complex family law matters from intake through resolution, serving as a trusted advocate for clients during critical life events. This role offers meaningful client interaction, regular courtroom exposure, and the opportunity to contribute to a collaborative and high performing legal team. The position is well suited for an experienced attorney who brings confidence, sound judgment, and strong litigation skills.
In this role, you will independently manage cases while collaborating closely with partners, associates, and support staff to achieve favorable outcomes and deliver exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a full caseload of family law matters including divorce, custody, support, equitable distribution, and post judgment modifications
Represent clients in court proceedings, hearings, mediations, and depositions
Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, discovery, settlement agreements, and final orders
Develop case strategy and provide clear, practical legal guidance to clients
Negotiate settlements and advocate effectively in contested matters
Maintain timely and accurate case documentation and billing
Collaborate with attorneys and support staff to ensure consistent client service
Stay current on changes in family law statutes, case law, and best practices
Mentor junior attorneys or legal staff as appropriate
Key Requirements
Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
Active license and good standing with the state bar in the applicable jurisdiction
Five to eight years of substantive family law experience
Demonstrated courtroom and litigation experience in family law cases
Strong legal research, writing, and negotiation skills
Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines independently
High emotional intelligence, professionalism, and discretion when working with clients
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
