Litigation Attorney
The Law Offices of David W Sheves, Dallas, TX, United States
Job Description
We are seeking a motivated, hardworking attorney who wants to develop litigation skills quickly and gain meaningful courtroom experience early in practice. This position is an excellent opportunity for a newer associate or entry-level lawyer who is eager to learn, take on responsibility, and grow into a strong litigator.
Our firm handles a broad range of litigation matters, including personal injury, family law, criminal law, and general civil and commercial litigation, in both state and federal court. While a significant portion of this role will involve personal injury matters, particularly commercial trucking and automobile cases, the attorney will also have the opportunity to work across a variety of contested matters and develop broad litigation experience.
This attorney will assist with all aspects of litigation and will have the opportunity to attend hearings, take and defend depositions, and serve as second chair in trials immediately. We are looking for someone who is dependable, team-oriented, and ready to work in an active litigation practice.
The ideal candidate will have strong oral and written communication skills, sound research and analytical abilities, and the willingness to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment. We are willing to train an eager associate, including someone with little or no experience, if that person is motivated, coachable, and genuinely interested in developing as a litigator.
Responsibilities
Assisting with all aspects of litigation in state and federal court
Working on matters involving personal injury, family law, criminal law, and general civil and commercial litigation
Drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents
Conducting legal research and assisting with case strategy
Attending hearings and court settings
Taking and defending depositions
Assisting with trial preparation and serving as second chair at trial
Communicating effectively with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel
Qualifications
Licensed attorney
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong research and drafting skills
Willingness to learn quickly and take initiative
Ability to work independently while also functioning well as part of a team
Good time management and ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced practice
Interest in developing real litigation and courtroom experience early in career
We are committed to retaining talented professionals and helping them grow into strong advocates. Compensation includes competitive base pay depending on experience, along with bonus and incentive compensation paid separately twice a year upon achievement of performance goals.
