There are two (2) openings for Dean of Students at John Hersey High School for the 2026-2027 School Year, all applicants will be considered for both positions.

to join our leadership team! As
Dean of Students , you will play a pivotal role in shaping our school environment by proactively supporting attendance, student discipline, and campus safety. You will collaborate closely with students, staff, families, and community partners to ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive. If you\'re ready to make a lasting impact on student success and school culture, we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities
Monitor and address attendance concerns, working with students, families, and staff to find solutions.
Partner with the School Resource Officer and campus safety teams to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
Support and guide staff by conducting observations, coaching, and offering leadership in behavior interventions.
Supervise and lead the Campus Safety team, ensuring professional development and effective scheduling.
Supervise and evaluate Attendance Assistants.
Be a visible, positive presence in hallways, common areas, and school events.
Serve as a key resource for student discipline, working to implement fair and effective interventions.
Assist in supervising evening and weekend school-related events, specifically all home football games and dances.
Facilitate reentry meetings and serve as a leader in student support initiatives.
Serve as a facilitator for the Solution Finding Team.
Champion equity and inclusion, ensuring all policies and practices reflect our commitment to student success.
Qualifications
Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with General Administrative Endorsement
Strong understanding of Positive Behavior Interventions (PBIS) & Response to Intervention (RTI)
Knowledge of attendance and behavior procedures under Illinois State School Code
Administrative experience preferred
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Bilingual proficiency
A passion for student success and a commitment to equity in education
LENGTH OF CONTRACT:
195-day assignment

Salary Range: Administrative Salary Grade One - $134,511 - $168,138
Longevity bonus of 1% for those at the top of the salary range
