Job Overview
Cambria County is hiring County Caseworker 1s to join our Children & Youth Services Office in Johnstown, PA. In this rewarding role, you will make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families throughout our community.

Responsibilities
County Caseworker 1s support children, youth, families, and individuals in need. As an entry‑level position, you will receive hands‑on training and guidance while providing meaningful social services and case management. You will start with simpler tasks and, as your knowledge grows, gain more independence and decision‑making opportunities under the supervision of experienced supervisors through regular meetings, training sessions, and feedback.

Work Schedule and Additional Information

Full‑time employment.

Work hours are 8:00 AM‑4:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch break.

No telework is available for this position.

Qualifications

Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college‑level coursework, which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or

A bachelor’s degree that includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or

Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case‑management functions.

Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements within two months of graduating with an eligible degree or credits.

Other Requirements

PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.

Valid driver’s license that is not under suspension.

Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements

A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.

This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law, which requires submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
