
Part Time Sunday Receptionist (Derby, CT)

Sunday Receptionist (P/T) – Part‑time, On‑site, Hourly, Non‑exempt. Expected Start Date: Immediately / May 2026.
Schedule: Sundays 8:00 AM–5:30 PM. Saturdays as backup when needed.
Location: On‑site at the Derby, CT dormitory (Office of Residential Life), 101 Marshall Lane.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive hourly rate: $16.94–$18.00 per hour (DOE)
Sun hours with additional Saturday hours as backup, allowing flexibility outside of work

Role & Responsibilities
The receptionist will provide courteous, continuous, readily available, on‑hand support throughout the day for international high‑school students living in the dormitory.
Open all common area doors (Dining Room, Gym, Recreation Room, and Residential Life Office) promptly at opening.
Monitor student and visitor departures and arrivals from the main entrance reception desk and ensure proper student sign‑out/in procedures.
Greet and welcome new students and direct new student arrivals to the on‑site Residential Life Coordinator.
Greet, welcome and direct visitors appropriately, notifying staff via WeChat of the visitor’s arrival.
Be available at all times and respond immediately to dormitory‑related questions or issues that need addressing via WeChat, phone call, email or text.
When contacted, visit the student in‑person to assess and address the issue and/or contact the appropriate APEX staff member (Residential Life Coordinator, Driver, Maintenance) to assist or intervene based on the need.
Collect and distribute mail/packages from the front lobby into the mailroom.
Assist with short student transportation runs in a company vehicle on an as‑needed backup basis.
Qualifications
Office administration experience
Professional, pleasant and approachable demeanor
Valid driver’s license, 3+ years of driving experience, and clean driving record
Quick learner, knowledgeable, resourceful and willing to help all
Primary point‑person for all questions and able to respond independently in a professional, calm and prompt manner
Capable of responding promptly, effectively, and appropriately in time‑sensitive, urgent or emergency situations
Proficient in smartphone use and capable of maintaining clear, professional written communication via text and messaging platforms
Comfortable with a slower‑paced front desk environment and remaining present, professional, and ready to assist despite limited daily traffic
Fluency in English
