SUNDAY RECEPTIONIST (P/T)

Job Type: Part‑time, On‑Site, Hourly, Non‑exempt

Expected Start Date: Immediately / May 2026

Schedule: Sundays 8:00 AM‑5:30 PM; Saturdays as backup and as needed.

Location: On‑site in the Derby, CT dormitory (Office of Residential Life), 101 Marshall Lane.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive hourly rate: $16.94 – $18.00 per hour (DOE)

Sunday hours with additional Saturday backup hours; flexibility outside of work

Role & Responsibilities
APEX International Education Partners is seeking a reliable, dedicated, customer‑service oriented part‑time Sunday Receptionist for our Office of Residential Life. This individual will provide courteous, continuous, readily available, on‑hand support throughout the day for our international high‑school students living in the dormitory in Derby, CT.

Serves to assist student residents, staff and visitors by being an available, in‑person, knowledgeable resource, answering questions, addressing issues, and/or directing students to appropriate staff personnel for follow‑up. Provides light administrative and operational support and assistance.

Opens all common‑area doors (Dining Room, Gym, Recreation Room, and Residential Life Office) promptly at assigned times.

Monitors student and visitor departures and arrivals from the main entrance reception desk and ensures proper student sign‑out/in procedures.

Greets and welcomes new student arrivals and directs them to the on‑site Residential Life Coordinator.

Greets, welcomes, and directs visitors appropriately; notifies staff personnel via WeChat of visitor arrival.

As part of the Residential Life Office Team, be available at all times and ready to respond immediately if a student or on/off‑site APEX staff member has a dormitory‑related question or issue that needs addressing via WeChat, phone call, email or text.

When contacted, visits the student in‑person to assess and address the issue and/or contacts the appropriate APEX staff member (Residential Life Coordinator, Driver, Maintenance) to assist or intervene based on the need.

Collects and distributes mail/packages from the front lobby into the mailroom.

Assists with short student transportation runs in a company vehicle on an as‑needed backup basis.

Qualifications

Office administration experience.

Professional, pleasant, and approachable demeanor.

Valid driver’s license with 3+ years of driving experience and a clean driving record.

Quick learner, knowledgeable, resourceful, and willing to help all.

Willing to be the point‑person for all questions and respond to them.

Able to answer questions, solve problems and address issues independently in a professional, calm and prompt manner.

Able to respond promptly, effectively and appropriately in time‑sensitive, urgent or emergency situations.

Demonstrates proficiency in smartphone use and maintains clear, professional written communication through text and messaging platforms.

Comfortable with a slower‑paced front desk environment, remaining present, professional and ready to assist despite limited daily traffic.

Fluency in English.
