STUDENT PASTOR

YM360 - YouthMinistry360, Huntsville, AL, United States

Overview

Rivertree Church is seeking a gifted, gospel-driven Student Pastor to lead its thriving Downtown Campus student ministry in Huntsville, Alabama. This is a rare opportunity to join a healthy, growing church with a compelling mission, a collaborative staff culture, and a student ministry already reaching 100+ students with significant runway ahead. If you are a passionate disciple-maker with a love for students and a deep commitment to the local church, Rivertree Downtown may be exactly where God is calling you next.

About Rivertree Church
Rivertree Church exists to help one another know Jesus by sharing the gospel and our lives — a mission rooted in 1 Thessalonians 2:8. That’s not just a tagline. It’s the thread that runs through Sunday morning, small groups, staff culture, and everything in between.

Rivertree is a multi-campus church with a genuine love for the communities it serves. It’s a place where the gospel is central, staff are genuinely cared for, and collaboration across campuses is built into the DNA. Leadership here is healthy, the culture is life-giving, and the people are the real deal.

The Downtown Campus sits in the geographic and cultural center of Huntsville — a strategic location in a fast-growing city full of young families, college students, and people actively searching for community. Student ministry is a priority.

About Huntsville, Alabama
Huntsville — the “Rocket City” — is one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing cities in the United States. Home to NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center and Redstone Arsenal, it has long punched above its weight. Today, it’s doing it again — as a lifestyle destination, an economic powerhouse, and one of the most exciting places in the South to plant roots.

The city has grown nearly 16% since 2020, adding 18 new residents every single day. A booming restaurant and arts scene, walkable neighborhoods like MidCity, Stovehouse, and the revitalized Downtown core, a highly educated workforce, and a cost of living well below comparable cities — Huntsville offers a quality of life that consistently surprises people who haven’t been lately.

For a church and a student ministry, this growth represents something more than demographics. It means families relocating and looking for a church home. Students searching for belonging. A city in a moment of formation — and a Downtown Campus positioned right at the center of it.

About The Role
The Student Pastor will provide vision and pastoral leadership for 6th–12th grade student ministry at the Downtown Campus. This includes casting and executing a discipleship-focused ministry strategy in alignment with Rivertree’s overall mission, leading a growing team of volunteers, and building the kinds of relationships with students and families that change lives.

Core Responsibilities

Leading and developing engaging weekly programming for middle and high school students

Recruiting, training, and investing in a passionate volunteer leadership team

Building deep, consistent relationships with students — in and outside of church programming

Partnering with parents as the primary disciple-makers of their children

Collaborating with student staff across Rivertree’s campuses on shared events, retreats, and camps

Delivering gospel-centered teaching during student gatherings and, occasionally, Sunday morning worship

About You
Rivertree is looking for a leader whose faith is genuine — not just professional. The right candidate will bring more than a résumé. They’ll bring character.

You Are

Gospel-driven. Your love for Jesus is the foundation of your leadership, not a credential on your application.

Relational and present. You show up for students — at games, in hallways, in hard conversations. You’re someone students and parents genuinely trust.

A builder and developer. You know how to recruit, equip, and inspire volunteers. You multiply your impact by developing others.

Collaborative by nature. You thrive in a multi-campus environment and see other staff as partners, not competition.

A learner. You’re always growing, open to feedback, and hungry to get better at your craft.

Productive and self-directed. You take initiative and follow through without needing to be managed closely.

A college or seminary degree in student ministries, theology, or ministry leadership is preferred, along with proven experience leading and growing a student ministry. Most importantly: you love students, you love the local church, and you believe disciple-making is the most important work in the world.
