Maat Legal is a forward-thinking probate and estate planning law firm in Mesa, AZ that combines cutting-edge AI technology with compassionate client service. We are looking for a Legal Intake Specialist to be the first point of contact for families navigating some of life's most difficult moments — loss, grief, and the complexities of settling a loved one's estate.
This is not a traditional legal secretary role. You will work alongside AI-powered tools that handle document drafting, research, and workflow automation, freeing you to focus on what technology cannot replace: genuine human connection, empathy, and attentive client care.
What You'll Do:
Serve as the welcoming first voice for clients calling about probate, trust administration, and estate planning matters
- Conduct compassionate client intake interviews, gathering case information with sensitivity and professionalism
- Use AI-assisted tools to streamline intake workflows, document preparation, and case management
- Manage scheduling, follow-ups, and client communications
- Coordinate with attorneys to ensure smooth case onboarding
- Learn and leverage new legal technology as our AI tools continue to evolve
What We're Looking For:
Strong customer service or client-facing experience (law firm experience is a plus, but not required)
- Comfort with technology and eagerness to learn AI tools — no technical background needed, just curiosity and adaptability
- Emotional intelligence and the ability to connect with clients during sensitive situations
- Excellent phone presence and communication skills
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Reliable and committed to growing with a small, innovative firm
Compensation & Growth:
Starting pay: $18–$22/hour based on experience
- Scheduled salary increases at 90 days, 6 months, and 1 year
