3rd Shift Quality Technician (Temporary)

Job Description
This temporary 3rd shift Quality Technician position supports a large, fast‑paced food manufacturing operation by actively monitoring production areas for product quality and food safety. The assignment is expected to last approximately 2–3 months, with the possibility of extension up to 12 months. The role focuses on inspecting products, performing environmental and microbiological testing, documenting findings, and reporting any actual or potential quality deviations while recommending corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). High‑performing consultants may be considered for future permanent opportunities if they become available.

Responsibilities

Actively monitor production lines and manufacturing areas to ensure products meet established quality and safety specifications.

Perform routine quality checks and inspections on in‑process and finished products according to defined standards and procedures.

Conduct culture swabs and environmental testing in production and surrounding areas to verify sanitation and hygiene conditions.

Collect, label, and handle samples accurately for microbiological, biological, and basic food laboratory testing.

Compare test and inspection results against established specifications and control limits to identify deviations or trends.

Document all quality checks, test results, and observations clearly and accurately in quality documentation systems.

Identify actual or potential quality deviations and promptly report findings to leadership.

Recommend and support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address quality issues and prevent recurrence.

Collaborate with production and quality teams to maintain compliance with food safety and quality standards.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, including laboratory and sampling stations, in accordance with good manufacturing practices.

Follow all standard operating procedures, safety guidelines, and food safety protocols while working on the production floor.

Support continuous improvement efforts related to quality control, environmental monitoring, and documentation practices.

Essential Skills

1–3 years of experience working in a food manufacturing facility.

Hands‑on experience performing culture swabs and environmental testing in a production or food processing environment.

Experience with quality documentation, including recording test results and inspection findings accurately.

Background in quality control and quality assurance within a manufacturing setting.

Ability to perform quality checks and inspections on a fast‑paced production floor.

Basic understanding of microbiology or biology as it relates to food safety and product quality.

Familiarity with inspection and laboratory practices in a food manufacturing context.

Ability to recognize and communicate quality deviations and potential nonconformances.

Strong attention to detail and adherence to established specifications and controls.

Capability to work independently during 3rd shift hours while maintaining consistent quality standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience working specifically on a food manufacturing production floor.

Exposure to environmental monitoring programs in food production facilities.

Experience with CAPA processes, including proposing or supporting corrective and preventive actions.

Experience with basic food laboratory testing procedures.

Education or coursework in Microbiology, Biology, Food Science, or a related field is beneficial.

Comfort working in a large, fast‑paced industrial environment with strict food safety and quality requirements.

Work Environment
This role is based in a large, fast‑paced food manufacturing facility operating on 3rd shift. The environment includes loud machinery, and hearing protection and other appropriate personal protective equipment are typically required. The position involves frequent movement on and around the production floor and may require going in and out of coolers and areas with changing temperatures. The role can be physically demanding and may require lifting up to 40 pounds. Work includes time both on the production floor and in laboratory or testing areas, following strict food safety, sanitation, and quality protocols. The facility emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to good manufacturing practices, and offers the potential for long‑term opportunities for individuals who perform well during their contract assignment.

Contract position based out of Franklin, WI.

Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.50 – $24.50 per hour.
