
Payroll Administrator

Our client, a well-funded Not-for-Profit Organization in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, New York, is seeking a Payroll Administrator to join their team. This role is on-site at their newly refurbished Headquarters and will report to the Senior Accountant.
The Payroll Administrator is responsible for processing payroll, managing employee benefits, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
Key duties include calculating and distributing wages, managing deductions, and serving as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding compensation. This role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a high degree of confidentiality.
Responsibilities
Payroll processing:
Process bi-weekly or monthly payroll, including calculating wages, bonuses, and commissions.
Manage deductions for taxes, insurance premiums, and retirement contributions.
Ensure accurate and timely payments through direct deposit or other methods.
Track and maintain employee time sheets and attendance records.
Manage wage garnishments and levies.
Record keeping and compliance:
Maintain accurate employee records and update HR information systems.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll and benefits regulations.
Generate and distribute payroll reports.
Ensure the accurate and timely distribution of year-end tax documents like W-2s.
Stay up-to-date on changes in laws and regulations.
Employee support:
Provide exceptional customer service to employees regarding their compensation.
Resolve discrepancies and issues related to payroll promptly.
Maintain high standards of confidentiality and integrity.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, human resources, or a related field.
Strong understanding of payroll administration, including relevant laws and regulations.
Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paycom) is required.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive information.
Problem-solving and multitasking abilities.
Flexibility and the ability to meet deadlines.
Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role.
