This position reports to:
Recreation Supervisor
The Town of Belleair is looking for a friendly, reliable, and energetic individual to join our team as a Recreation Services Clerk. This position is the welcoming face of our Recreation & Town Events Departments, helping create a positive experience for everyone who walks through the doors. From assisting patrons and processing registrations to keeping the facility organized and ready for daily activities, this role plays a key part in keeping our programs and events running smoothly. You’ll also be part of the action behind the scenes, helping set up and break down for programs and community events, and ensuring our spaces are clean, safe, and ready for fun. This position is currently scheduled for evening closing shifts, Monday through Friday, and requires availability for all special events throughout the year, which may include days and weekends.
Two (2) positions are open: Please indicate on your application which shift you are interested.
Day Shift: 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
Closing Shift: 4:45 pm - 9:15 pm
Essential Functions
Provide front desk coverage, including greeting and assisting patrons in person, over the phone, and via email
Deliver courteous and professional customer service; respond to inquiries in a helpful, timely, and tactful manner
Perform front desk operations, including program registrations, participant check-ins, payment processing, and daily reporting
Accurately handle and reconcile cash, check, and credit card transactions, complete required reporting and auditing procedures
Support daily operations through administrative tasks and communication with staff and patrons, route messages to appropriate parties
Open/close the facility in accordance with established procedures, including securing the building and maintaining cleanliness standards
Prepare the facility for daily use, including set-up and breakdown of equipment and ensure spaces are clean, organized, and ready for the next day
Assist with special events and facility rentals, including event set-up, breakdown, and on-site support as assigned
Monitor facility activity to help ensure a safe environment; identify potential hazards and respond appropriately, including administering basic first aid if needed
Enforce safety rules, monitor participant behavior, identify potential hazards as needed
Address minor conflicts among patrons or participants with firmness, tact, and respect, escalating issues as appropriate
Demonstrate thorough knowledge of, and adhere to all, established department and Town policies and procedures
Perform other job-related duties as necessary and consistent with the position
Education and Qualifications
High School diploma, GED or equivalent
Must be 18 or older
Must be available to work variable shifts including morning, afternoon and evening, weekdays and weekends
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent customer service in a welcoming and professional manner
Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
Ability to resolve minor conflicts among program participants with firmness, tact, and respect
Ability to work independently and in a team setting with minimal supervision
Ability to operate office equipment such as computer, keyboard, tablet, phone, etc.
Qualifications
High School diploma, GED or equivalent
Must be 18 or older
Must be available to work variable shifts including morning, afternoon and evening, weekdays and weekends
Special Requirements
Must pass Level II background screening
Must have a current CPR / AED certification or obtain within one (1) year of hire (training provided)
Must have a valid State of Florida Driver License
Time‑off benefits available at a prorated amount, including vacation, holidays, and sick; additional benefits including discount programs for recreation activities such as Summer Camps and Rec Programs, Employee Assistance Program.
