Position Details
Title: Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor (Specialist)
Classification: CALTRANS MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
Salary: $5,401.00 - $7,032.00
Location: San Joaquin County (In Office)
Job Description
Under the general direction of the Caltrans Maintenance Area Superintendent and District Drainage Coordinator, the incumbent performs culvert inspections, mapping, updates, and maintains the Culvert Program’s database for all culverts within District 10. The incumbent also operates GPS equipment to identify locations of all culvert systems in District 10 and conducts fieldwork and short‑notice travel as needed. Assignments may be subject to rotation, changes in work shift, work hours, and workdays. The incumbent develops and continually improves the District 10 culvert database, performing post‑processing and quality control of culvert inventory data collected in the field using software such as Wincan 8, TerraSync, and Pathfinder, and uploads processed data into the database. The incumbent trains, manages service contracts, and collaborates with Headquarters staff to enhance the program. Effective communication of data and program updates is maintained with the District Drainage Coordinator and other personnel in Design, Hydraulics, Field Maintenance, and Headquarters’ Culvert Inspection Program Coordinator.
Special Requirements
Position requires a valid Class C driver’s license.
Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state‑owned or leased vehicle.
Desired Qualifications
Possession of a valid and unrestricted Class A or Class B commercial driver’s license with P (Passenger/Bus), H (Hazardous Materials), and N (Tank Vehicle) endorsements and a qualified applicator certificate for pesticides issued by Cal‑EPA is desired.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum qualifications for the classification will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. Candidates must meet the stated qualifications, and education documentation will be required for verification.
