Job Description & Duties
Under the general direction of the Deputy District Director of Project Delivery, the incumbent leads a team of Engineers, Surveyors, Technicians and Administrative Support. The incumbent manages the delivery of various Capital projects, including District 12’s State Highway Operations and Protection Program (SHOPP), State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP), Senate Bill 1 (SB1) program, local Measure funded projects, and projects on the state highway system funded by others. This is a management position requiring leading staff, managing resources, and delivering projects in alignment with the Department’s Strategic Plan and the District’s Strategic Business Plan.

Special Requirements
Position will be filled via the California Department of Transportation Managerial Selection Program (MSP) process (per California Code of Regulations 549.90).
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
Experience (I):
One year of transportation engineering experience as a senior level engineer in the California state service.
Experience (II):
One year of supervisory or managerial experience at a level equivalent to a Senior Transportation Planner in the California state service, and two years of civil engineering work at the Associate Engineer level or higher in the California state service.
Experience (III):
More than five years of transportation engineering experience, with at least two years equivalent to the senior level engineer in the California state service.
