Job Description and Duties
Under administrative direction from the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the incumbent serves as Chief of the Infrastructure Service Branch (ISB), which comprises the multidisciplinary offices of Database and Middleware Management, Server Infrastructure Identify Management, and Storage Engineering and Data Protection. The ISB Chief has full management responsibility for policies, standards, processes, and procedures related to the analysis, design, implementation, maintenance, and operation of Caltrans’ IT infrastructure. The ISB Chief organizes, plans, coordinates, directs, and controls all day‑to‑day operations of the ISB.

Special Requirements
Position will be filled via the California Department of Transportation Managerial Selection Program (MSP) process.
Minimum Qualifications
• One year of experience as an Information Technology Manager I; or
• Seven years of information technology experience performing progressively responsible technical, analytical, supervisory, or managerial tasks supporting computer systems or services in one or more of the major six domains or a closely related emerging field. At least three years of that experience must include performance of highly specialized work in a lead capacity on highly complex or specialized IT systems or services, or supervisory or managerial capacity over such systems.
• A master's or doctorate degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for four years of the required general IT experience. A bachelor's degree may substitute for three years, and an associate degree may substitute for one year. Only one degree may be used for substitution.
• When using education to meet minimum qualifications, education must include 15 semester units (or 22.5 quarter units) of IT or closely related coursework.
