The Role
The Engineering Oversight Manager has the responsibility to lead a highly technical team responsible for design, design review, and process and procedural standardization. This position is responsible for administering technical guidance, oversight, and direction to ensure designs meet required standards and are delivered on time. In addition to project support the position manages procedure development and maintenance. Key responsibilities will include leading the team, overseeing design and design review, developing and implementing standardized processes, and ensuring quality assurance and compliance with industry regulations.
The ideal candidate will have technical expertise, leadership experience, industry knowledge, and excellent communication skills.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design; Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience.
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Nice to Have
Knowledge of cranes and crane processes is a plus
Experience with internal and customer audits and an understanding of radiological processes
Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary for interaction with personnel at all levels of the company
The incumbent should have a comprehensive knowledge of engineering/design processes relating to cranes, understanding of company business management principles and have demonstrated the ability to manage multiple tasks as well as lead and direct the work of others.
