
Professional Land Surveyor

A growing civil engineering and surveying consulting firm is seeking a Professional Land Surveyor to support a variety of public infrastructure and land development projects. This role is responsible for (1) performing and overseeing land surveying activities including boundary, topographic, and construction surveys, (2) utilizing advanced surveying technology and software to produce accurate deliverables, and (3) supporting project teams and clients through all phases of survey execution. This position plays a key role in ensuring precise data collection, regulatory compliance, and successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Perform and oversee a range of surveying services including boundary, topographic, ALTA/ACSM, and construction stakeout surveys
Conduct utility route surveys, as-built surveys, and property surveys
Operate survey equipment such as GPS (Topcon) and total stations
Prepare and review survey data, calculations, and documentation
Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Carlson software for drafting and data processing
Ensure compliance with local, state, and industry standards and regulations
Collaborate with engineering teams, clients, and project stakeholders
Support field operations and provide guidance to survey crews
Travel locally to project sites and support field data collection as needed
Maintain accuracy, quality control, and timely delivery of survey results
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in land surveying
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
Experience performing a variety of survey types including boundary, topographic, and construction surveys
Experience working with survey equipment and drafting software
Special Requirements
Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license preferred or ability to obtain licensure in PA and/or OH
Ability to travel locally and work overtime as project needs require
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong knowledge of land surveying principles, methods, and standards
Proficiency with Topcon GPS systems and total station equipment
Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Carlson software
Ability to interpret survey data and produce accurate drawings and reports
Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Strong organizational and time management skills
Effective communication skills for working with internal teams and clients
Additional Desired Characteristics
Experience working on public infrastructure and land development projects
Familiarity with utility, municipal, and residential development projects
Ability to lead or mentor junior survey staff
Interest in continuous learning and professional development
This position operates in a hybrid environment, including both office and field settings within a regional location. The role requires local travel to job sites and may involve outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Occasional overtime may be required based on project demands.
