About Our Mechanical Engineer Intern

Our ideal candidate has a passion for innovation and great attention to detail. Because our company customizes equipment for specific customer applications, we design modified versions of our standard equipment and, when needed, work individually or in a team to design new equipment. If you love to learn and want to be involved in all aspects of the engineering and design process, this is the position for you!
Responsibilities

Analyze customer specifications and develop solutions that meet customer requirements and industry standards
Complete Engineering department projects within set deadlines
Assist in performing design and safety calculations
Work with Drafting, Sales, and Estimating, and occasionally with Research and Development, Manufacturing, and Quality Control
These are some of the more frequent tasks you could expect to perform during your workday, but you may be called upon to fulfill other duties as needed.

Technical Aptitude: Comfortable in a mechanically-minded team; design and manufacture a full line of mechanical products used in several industries
Tech Savvy: Familiar with drafting software and Microsoft Office applications and able to adapt to new software programs, including the Welker ERP software
Work Ethic: Strong organizational and follow-through skills with a sense of urgency and prioritization; able to handle multiple complex tasks within tight deadlines
Attention to Detail: Focus on details to ensure drawings are complete, accurate, and thorough

Qualifications

Current Junior or Senior pursuing a bachelor’s mechanical engineering degree from an ABET-accredited university
Solid general knowledge of CAD software, specifically SolidWorks
Familiarity with mechanical design principles
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Available to start for Summer 2026
Additional Notes: This is an in-office position at Welker, Inc. in Sugar Land, Texas.
Additional Requirements
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Must be able to successfully complete a drug screen, physical, and background check
