Position: Instrumentation and Electrical Technician

Location: Terre Haute, IN

Type: Full-Time

Key Responsibilities

Install, calibrate, and maintain process instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level, analyzers).

Troubleshoot and repair control systems, transmitters, control valves, and field devices.

Perform loop checks, functional testing, and instrument verification.

Maintain and update calibration records and documentation.

Support PLC/DCS systems and field instrumentation integration.

Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems (motors, MCCs, VFDs, power distribution).

Diagnose and repair electrical faults in industrial equipment.

Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams.

Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems.

Support new equipment installations and commissioning.

Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs.

Participate in root‑cause analysis and reliability improvement initiatives.

Assist in troubleshooting complex process upsets in continuous operations.

Maintain spare parts and inventory for critical instrumentation and electrical components.

Follow all safety policies, procedures, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) requirements.

Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, ISA).

Work safely in hazardous classified environments (Class I, Div 1/2).

Participate in process safety programs (MOC, PHA, HAZOP support).

Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Associate degree or technical certification in Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, or related field (preferred).

3–7+ years of industrial maintenance experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or chemical manufacturing (strongly preferred).

Experience supporting continuous process operations with critical uptime requirements.

Experience with PLC systems such as Allen‑Bradley or Siemens (preferred).

Industry‑Specific Experience (Oil & Gas / Chemicals)

Hands‑on experience with process instrumentation in hydrocarbon or chemical service.

Familiarity with hazardous area classifications, intrinsically safe systems, and explosion‑proof equipment.

Experience maintaining and troubleshooting control valves, gas analyzers, flow measurement devices (Coriolis, ultrasonic, DP), and pressure/temperature transmitters.

Exposure to distributed control systems used in refining or chemical plants.

Understanding of process safety management environments.

Experience working around high‑pressure systems, flammable/com­bustible materials, and corrosive chemicals.

Technical Skills

Strong understanding of electrical systems (low and medium voltage).

Knowledge of instrumentation calibration and control systems.

Ability to use diagnostic tools (multimeters, loop calibrators, meggers).

Familiarity with SCADA/DCS systems.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation.

Soft Skills

Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving ability.

Attention to detail and accuracy.

Beneficial Experience But Not Required

Startup and commissioning experience in new plant builds.

Experience in refining, midstream, upstream, or specialty chemical production.

Knowledge of SIL‑rated systems and safety instrumented systems (SIS).

Location & Schedule

On‑site at our Terre Haute, IN facility (remote work is not available for this role).

Full‑time with on‑call responsibilities.

Occasional travel may be required.

Working Conditions
This role operates within an active chemical recycling plant that includes exposure to carbon black, liquid hydrocarbon oils, and vapor streams. Protective equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators) will be required in designated areas. The facility includes indoor and outdoor operations, elevated equipment access, and industrial‑grade processing equipment.
