About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated
Mechanical Design Engineer
with 6–15 years of experience in HVAC system design for commercial, multifamily residential, and institutional projects. The ideal candidate will be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to manage projects from concept through completion.
Key Responsibilities
Lead HVAC system design, including load calculations, equipment sizing/selection, control system development, and site surveys.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal building codes in the Washington, DC metro area.
Manage and coordinate project tasks across all MEP disciplines, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget targets are met.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
Collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors to ensure project goals and client satisfaction are achieved.
Prepare and review design documentation, specifications, and reports.
Conduct site visits and inspections as required.
Qualifications
Active Professional Engineering (PE) license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (required).
6–15 years of HVAC design experience in commercial, multifamily, and/or institutional environments.
Strong knowledge of applicable building codes and standards.
Proven project management experience with the ability to delegate, coordinate, and oversee multidisciplinary teams.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to travel to job sites, conduct surveys, and perform fieldwork (including carrying equipment and working at heights).
