
Network Technician

Overview
Our client is seeking a skilled Network Technician to support their team for roughly six weeks. This temporary position offers an opportunity to establish yourself as a proven resource for a growing client in the enterprise IT market. Ideal candidates are well‑rounded, service‑driven IT technicians with strong networking skills and/or a passion for end‑user support.
Responsibilities
Installs and maintains personal computers and networks, including all peripheral equipment.
Installs wiring and fiber optic cables.
Installs and configures file servers, print servers, communications servers, network switches, personal computers, and printers (network and desktop).
Diagnoses computer and network problems on‑site or through help‑desk staff with user telephone consultations.
Works with vendors to configure and troubleshoot routers, circuit problems, and various third‑party software applications.
Upgrades computers and peripheral equipment.
Tests wiring.
Maintains various non‑personal computer user interfaces (e.g., KRONOS Time and Attendance keypads).
Assists in testing new operating systems and software titles for interoperability and functionality with existing systems.
Attends seminars and technical education classes to keep abreast of current trends in information technology.
Qualifications
Working knowledge of modern personal computers and local and wide area networks.
Knowledge of installation procedures for PCs, LAN/WAN, peripheral equipment, and software.
Ability to install office computer systems and networks.
Ability to evaluate equipment configuration requirements.
Ability to diagnose computer system and network problems and assist in their resolution.
Ability to direct users in system and network use.
Ability to understand written material.
Ability to follow oral and written directions.
Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
Desired Skills & Knowledge
Network troubleshooting, cabling, switches, routers, hardware support, software support, configurations, installation experience, LAN/WAN.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Graduation from a New York State or regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in management information systems, computer science, information resources management, or a closely related field and at least one year of full‑time paid experience in the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of computer systems and networks.
Graduation from a New York State or regionally accredited college or university with an Associate’s Degree in a related field and at least two years of full‑time paid experience.
High school diploma or equivalency and at least three years of full‑time paid experience.
Note: Successful completion of a three‑credit semester course in college‑level computer science or related field may substitute for three months of appropriate experience. A course of study offered by a technical training institute may substitute for one year of appropriate experience if it meets the specified conditions.
Experience Level
Intermediate Level – 1 to 3 years of experience.

Contract position based out of Cohoes, NY.
Pay and Benefits
Pay range: $25.00 – $27.00 per hour.
