Job Summary:
As a
Data Center Technician , you will support the planning, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of data center infrastructure across both inside and outside plant environments. This hands‑on, detail‑oriented role involves supporting enterprise hardware, structured cabling systems, and external fiber infrastructure. You will work closely with engineers, vendors, and contractors to ensure installations meet data‑center and industry standards. This position is ideal for entry‑level to early‑career technicians looking to build long‑term experience in a large‑scale data‑center environment.
Responsibilities
Inside Plant (ISP) – ~60%
Rack, stack, and cable servers, network equipment, racks, and PDUs.
Install and maintain structured cabling and fiber optic infrastructure (Cat6, fiber).
Perform hardware troubleshooting, diagnostics, and component replacements.
Support Linux‑based systems at the hardware and infrastructure level.
Partner with network and systems engineers on installs, moves, and changes.
Conduct routine inspections of equipment, power, cooling, and cabling.
Maintain clean, organized, and well‑documented data‑hall environments.
Outside Plant (OSP) – ~40%
Assist with installation of conduit, fiber, copper cabling, and external pathways.
Support proper routing, termination, and testing of fiber connections.
Inspect and maintain outside‑plant infrastructure to ensure long‑term reliability.
Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for OSP work.
Maintain accurate documentation of fiber routes, terminations, and updates.

Qualifications

Familiarity with HVAC, backup power, and fire suppression systems is a plus.
Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently in a live production environment.
Clear communication skills when working with engineers, vendors, and contractors.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 – $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
