Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM) – Storm Water Quality Division – Civil Engineer III

Assist with professional engineering projects related to NPDES Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Storm Water Management Program.

Plan, design, construction management, product evaluation, research & development, system optimization, database management, and GIS mapping.

May participate in periodic cross training and supplementary work activities within the division to comply with regulatory obligations.

Salary: $6,528 – $7,317 per month (commensurate with applicable experience, pending approval).

Department of Environmental Services (ENV) – Refuse Collection & Disposal Division – Civil Engineer III

Perform routine to moderately complex professional engineering work under general supervision.

Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct all technical and administrative activities of simple projects assigned.

Assist higher‑level engineers on more complex projects and tasks.

Salary: $6,528 – $7,317 per month (commensurate with applicable experience, pending approval).

Department of Environmental Services (ENV) – Office of Administrative Support Division – Civil Engineer III

Perform routine to moderately complex professional engineering work under general supervision.

Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct all technical and administrative activities of simple projects assigned.

Assist higher‑level engineers on more complex projects and tasks.

Salary: $6,528 – $7,530 per month (commensurate with applicable experience, pending approval).

Department of Design and Construction (DDC) – Civil Division – Civil Engineer III

Perform professional engineering work under general supervision including contract administration and compliance oversight for various facets of construction projects.

Plan, organize, and manage assigned Capital Improvement Program (CIP) funded projects.

Assist higher‑level engineers on more complex projects and tasks.

Salary: $6,528 – $7,111 per month (commensurate with applicable experience, pending approval).

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States; or a non‑citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

Graduation from a regionally‑accredited four‑year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in an engineering specialty.

Two years of non‑registered professional civil engineering experience (substitute: a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering will substitute for one year of experience).

Possession of an appropriate valid driver’s license as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Civil engineering principles and practices.

Engineering mathematics and mechanics of materials.

Topographic surveying principles and practices.

Structural, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and sanitary engineering concepts as they apply to civil engineering.

Perform civil engineering design work and supervise construction and inspection activities.

Analyze stresses and determine required foundations and structural features.

Supervise a small group of subordinate employees.

Prepare engineering and inspection reports.
