Overview
Total Safety

is looking for a

DOT Driver

to join their safety conscious team. The DOT Driver operates a commercial truck and a variety of trailers to pick up, haul, and unload equipment and supplies to and from job sites and customer locations. Cross trained in air work, gas detection, and rescue services. Complies with current DOT regulations.

Essential Duties

Refer to the safety and operations checklists of steps to be followed for each trailer type to be pulled and follow the checklist before each haul. Complete DOT and company-required documentation.

Provide timely delivery and pick-up to and from designated customer locations.

Inspect equipment for damage and/or excessive wear when picking up equipment and note any conditions.

Comply with current DOT regulations including, but not limited to, timely qualification renewals, equipment and cargo security inspections, electronic logging devices, and other required transport documentation.

Complete all documentation associated with delivery and pickup in a timely and accurate manner and obtain customer signature for proper invoicing and documentation.

Perform basic maintenance and care of the assigned vehicle and/or trailer.

Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and ad-hoc equipment inspections as required by FMCSA/FMCSR on all commercial motor vehicles and trailers.

Perform weekly inspections on all non-DOT assigned trucks and trailers to ensure that all required safety and preventative maintenance measures have been executed and documented.

Assist others in the facility, including stocking shelves with clean, tested, and ready-to-use equipment and pulling, staging, and loading customer orders onto trucks for delivery.

Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly condition.

Service customers and/or company-owned electronics and respiratory equipment.

Assist others as needed. May need to perform emergency roadside repairs.

Skills and Experience

Must possess at least 12 months of verifiable DOT driving experience within the last three (3) years; a valid DOT medical examiner’s certificate with a minimum of 3 months prior to expiration; be insurable for Total Safety vehicle insurance while driving the company truck; and a satisfactory driving record meeting all FMCSR and company policies.

Minimum of manufacturer field level training and certification in respiratory and instrumentation.

Valid driver’s license from the state of residence and valid proof of vehicle insurance.

Commercial driver’s license per facility requirements (Class A, B, or C) with HAZMAT endorsement.

Must comply with current DOT regulations and pass internal forklift training and certification.

Working Environment
Shop, yard, traffic, and customer environments. May be frequently exposed to wet, humid weather conditions and vibration. Shop, plants, highway traffic, and road debris. High pressure, chemicals, shop traffic. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
