Role Description
Arcadis is seeking a mid-level Construction Inspector to join our Resilience Water Construction Management Team in Phoenix, Arizona. This position primarily involves field work and will support our water resource projects in the Phoenix metro area.
We are looking for an inspector with experience in various trades, such as civil/site, concrete, structural, mechanical, treatment process equipment, water meter installations, pipeline rehabilitation/installation, HVAC, electrical and/or instrumentation. Full‑time and part‑time employment opportunities will be considered.
This is an exciting opportunity for a self‑motivated individual to join our local team. The Construction Inspector will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge of construction inspection, construction field management, QA/QC and report documentation, on various construction and/or reconstruction projects for municipal water and wastewater treatment, pump stations, pipelines and other heavy civil construction projects. The Inspector will report to a Construction Manager and will be primarily based in the field and will provide regular updates on construction activities.
Role Accountabilities
Observe and inspect construction work completed by contractors, conduct punch list inspections, use field tools to document inspections, review technical documents such as drawings and specifications, and prepare detailed daily activity and progress reports.
Participate in project schedule reviews and contractor invoice evaluations.
Uphold quality assurance requirements and methodologies while monitoring code compliance matters; identify deviations from contract documents and communicate required corrections to the contractor in a clear and professional manner.
Review submittals and other construction documents to propose technical solutions.
Attend and actively participate in construction meetings, safety updates, and project site coordination meetings.
Monitor and document contractor resource utilization for field changes, time‑and‑material work, and assist in negotiating basic field construction changes.
Verify equipment and materials installation for payment purposes and maintain payment quantity documentation; perform necessary mathematical calculations during inspection activities.
Ensure compliance with Arcadis' project safety guidelines during daily inspections.
Key Skills and Attributes
The candidate will bring hands‑on experience with construction inspection activities and a preferred background in water distribution, metering, wastewater systems, pump stations, and water/wastewater pipeline construction or rehabilitation. The candidate will demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, the ability to organize and interpret large volumes of data, and the skill to identify and analyze challenges while developing innovative, math‑driven solutions. Ability to manage multiple priorities with effective time‑management practices will be key. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word, SharePoint, and Outlook, is also needed.
Required Qualifications
5 – 8 years of construction inspection experience on water/wastewater related facilities such as treatment plants, pump stations, water meters, and pipelines.
Experience in either one or multiple trades: civil/site, concrete, structural, mechanical, process equipment, HVAC, electrical and/or instrumentation.
Preferred Qualifications
NICET certification is a big plus.
OSHA 10 Safety and Confined Space Entry Training.
Continuing Education Diploma or Certification in Construction related area, Associates Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction, or a related field of study or area preferred.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
