Role description
Arcadis is seeking a W/WW Principal Construction Manager, with a minimum of 5 years' experience, to join our Water Business Line - Construction Management team out of our Riverside, CA Area.

This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our team locally with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. The Construction Inspector, with the support of a strong nationally recognized technical staff, will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge of construction inspection, construction field management, QA / QC and report documentation, on various construction and/or reconstruction projects for municipal water and wastewater treatment, power generation, manufacturing facilities or other heavy construction projects. CM will report to Sr.CM and/or Project Manager and provide regular updates on daily construction activities for their area of oversight.

Role accountabilities
The Principal Construction Manager is responsible for observing and inspecting contractor-performed construction work to ensure compliance with contract documents, drawings, specifications, and applicable codes. The Principal Construction Manager conducts punch list inspections, prepares detailed daily activity and progress reports, reviews project schedules and contractor invoices, verifies equipment and material installation for payment purposes, and maintains accurate payment quantity documentation. The position requires performing necessary mathematical calculations and determining deviations from contract requirements while clearly and professionally communicating required corrections to contractors.

This role leads quality assurance approaches, monitors code compliance, and supports Arcadis' safety standards through daily site inspections and coordination of special and material testing. The Principal Construction Manager regularly attends and actively participates in construction, safety, and coordination meetings, reviews submittals and construction documentation, and recommends sound technical solutions. Responsibilities also include monitoring and documenting contractor labor, materials, and equipment utilization, supporting time-and-material work, and assisting with the negotiation of basic field construction changes to support successful project delivery.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of 4 years of civil/utility field construction experience.

Experience with civil construction inspection activities on small to larger sized Heavy Civil construction projects including micro tuning and open cut pipeline installation.

Key Skills and Attributes
The position requires strong oral and written communication skills, along with a demonstrated ability to analyze and organize large volumes of data effectively. Candidates should possess proven skills in identifying, analyzing, and developing innovative solutions to complex problems, supported by a high level of mathematical aptitude. The ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and demonstrate solid time management skills is essential. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is also required. Additionally, the role demands the ability to work year-round in various weather conditions, potentially hazardous environments, and flexible shift hours. Employees must be capable of lifting up to 40 pounds as part of their duties.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering

General Contractor experience

OSHA 10 Safety and Confined Space Entry Training.

We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $133,920 - $200,880. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
