
Biomed Equipment Technician

Job Overview
Inspects patient care equipment regularly and identifies and repairs problems. Confers with hospital staff regarding equipment. Communicates with equipment manufacturers regarding proper functioning, maintenance and service contracts.
Responsibilities
Performs repairs, calibrations and maintenance tasks of routine difficulty.
Performs periodic inspection and safety testing of low to medium complexity biomedical instrumentation including but not limited to
Physical Therapy Equipment
Infusion/Syringe/Feeding Pumps
Telemetry Systems
General Lab Equipment (i.e Centrifuges)
Nurse Call Systems
General Patient Care Equipment
Documents all testing, maintenance and repair work according to departmental procedures. Helps to maintain a current database inventory of hospital biomedical equipment and service histories of equipment
Participates in the installation of new equipment.
Makes recommendations regarding stocking of parts and acquisition of test equipment
Contacts vendors and suppliers as necessary.
Performs other job related duties required.
Performs related duties as required.
Reports to Clinical Engineering and/or Biomedical Program Manager.

Physical Demands
Must be able to lift and move heavy equipment up to approximately 100 lbs.
Job Qualifications
Associate Degree in Electronics or equivalent combination of education, required.
Minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience, required.
Knowledge of analog, digital and electromechanical skills and knowledge of test instrumentation.
