To support our mission, we are seeking to fill a Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Supervisor position to join the Golden Crescent Mgmt. Unit 6-1 Department. This position is located at 4410 Dillon Ln, Corpus Christi, TX.

You must be a Texas resident to work for the Texas Workforce Commission or willing to relocate to Texas.

The Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Supervisor is selected by and accountable to the VR Manager. Performs complex (journey-level) managerial work administering the daily operations and activities of a business function, division, or department. Work involves establishing goals and objectives; ensuring compliance with guidelines, procedures, rules, and regulations; developing schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving established goals; coordinating and evaluating business functions and activities; developing and evaluating budget requests; and monitoring budget expenditures. Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of others. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

General Duties

Provides managerial work overseeing the daily operations and activities related to VR work.

Supervises VR Counselors (VRC) and Transition VRCs.

Establishes goals and objectives for achieving division goals in VR.

Conducts and oversees mentoring and training activities including employment readiness training activities, as well as monitoring these activities.

Performs complex consultative services in the Texas Workforce Solutions (TWS)-VR customer services programs.

Provides technical assistance to staff, other agencies, community programs and the general public regarding division programs.

Oversees the day-to-day operations to include, but not limited to, caseload budget management; conducting reviews to determine compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures; resolving customer complaints and legislative inquiries; assisting in quality assurance and implementing continuous improvement processes; performing and monitoring community outreach efforts (including business development); hiring employees using agency selection process; approving customer services policy exceptions (under delegated authority); and conducting analyses using TWS data systems for unit quality improvement efforts and reporting requirements.

Leads the VRCs to achieve performance outcomes.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

One year experience as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (and)

One year experience in management or leading a team (and)

Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or Rehabilitation Management from an accredited college or university plus one year experience: 1) in interpreting and applying VR program policies and procedures, 2) planning, implementing, and monitoring customer services, 3) coaching, mentoring and providing technical assistance for staff development, and 4) developing and providing training activities (or)

Master's degree from an accredited college or university plus three years’ progressive experience working in a vocational rehabilitation program. With three years’ experience in areas referenced above (or)

Bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or Rehabilitation Management from an accredited college or university plus three years progressive experience working in a vocational rehabilitation program. With three years’ experience in areas referenced above (or)

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university plus four years’ progressive experience working in a vocational rehabilitation program. With four years’ experience in areas referenced above.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university plus four years of full-time experience in the development, implementation, or interpretation of policies and procedures in a public or private agency, one year of which must have been in an administrative management or supervisory capacity.

Twelve semester hours of graduate study from an accredited college or university may be substituted for each year of the required qualifying experience up to two year.

A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university may be substituted for three years of the required qualifying experience.

One year of full-time qualifying experience may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of college.

This position involves up to 30% travel (method of transportation is the responsibility of employee) and the ability to lift/carry 10 pounds.
