Dryer Production Operator, -DOTH

Responsibilities

Operate yeast filter press, belt conveyor, mixer‑extruder and all associated equipment in accordance with SOPs and training.
Monitor and ensure proper filter cake discharge, including manual scraping as needed.
Take product and in‑process samples in a prescribed manner and at the required frequency.
Perform basic laboratory analysis in accordance with SOPs and the plan of control.
Follow filter press and packaging procedures and complete them as scheduled.
Participate in equipment cleaning operations in accordance with the cleaning plan.
Monitor critical control points in accordance with the plan of control.
Follow plant maintenance procedures as needed.
Learn and comply with established safety, food safety, and company policies.
Communicate effectively with the Superintendent, Dry Yeast Department Manager, and department employees regarding plant operations and the weekly production schedule.
Notify the Maintenance department of equipment problems that cannot be resolved independently by submitting written work order requests.
Operate packaging equipment as required.
Assist with special projects as assigned.
Qualifications

Attention to detail in paperwork.
Basic computer skills, including basic knowledge of Excel and the Windows environment.
Ability to perform basic math calculations, percentages, and ratios.
Ability to multi‑task and perform more than one job task simultaneously.
Education and Experience

High school diploma required. Three years of experience in a food‑grade production facility preferred.
Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write reports and correspondence if needed; ability to speak effectively before employees or auditors.
Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret graphs.
Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Capability to become CPR/First Aid certified. Capability to become Forklift certified.
Physical Demands

Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Often required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally required to sit and talk or hear. Must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment

Regular exposure to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock. Noise level is usually loud. Ability to perform duties for 12‑hour shifts on either day or night is required.
