• Assignment Type: Locum tenens / Travel contract

• End Date: October 22, 2026
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Days, 7:00am - 5:00pm (10-hour days)
• Hours per Week: 40
• Call Schedule: Rotational, 1:4 ratio
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $3,910 - $4,630 (competitive locum tenens pay)
• Patient Volume: 4-8 adult patients per day (cardiac and thoracic surgery cases)
• EMR: Epic

Qualifications

• Active Physician Assistant license in Michigan required (no pending licenses accepted)
• NCCPA Board Certification; PA-C preferred
• BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA required
• Minimum 1 year of Cardiothoracic OR experience required (no new graduates)
• Robotic surgery experience preferred but not required
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical and trauma hospital environment

Responsibilities

• Provide intraoperative assistance for cardiothoracic and thoracic surgical procedures in the inpatient OR
• Perform central venous and dialysis catheter placement and place arterial lines
• Insert chest tubes, perform thoracentesis, and assist with intra-aortic balloon pump placement
• Retrieve vascular tissue for bypass conduit, including endoscopic retrieval when required
• Participate in rotational call schedule (1:4) and provide perioperative and postoperative patient care
• Collaborate closely with supervising physicians, surgical teams, anesthesia, and multidisciplinary staff
• Document clinical care and operative notes in Epic EMR accurately and timely
