JOY HOUSE GUEST SERVICES SUMMER INTERN - FOR CTA STUDENTS

Joy House – Milwaukee Rescue Mission Division for Women & Children. The women and children who come to us for emergency or long-term support rely on the safety, love and warmth of Joy House and its many services. We nourish and nurture them through training, education and spiritual guidance so they can make better lives for themselves and for their kids. Joy House is offering two female CTA students a 6-week paid internship this summer. These paid internships are available only for current CTA 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade female high school students (including May graduates).
PAY RATE:

$11.00 per hour
Work Schedule

Temporary/Seasonal position: June 15 - July 24, 2026 (may extend beyond July 24 based on need & availability)
Part-time, 16 hours/week, Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-1:00pm
LOCATION:

Central Campus, 830 N 19th Street, Milwaukee, WI 53233
Responsibilities

Help with the basic care needs of guests (distribution of toiletries, clean linens, medication and food; assist with personal laundry, cleaning, managing children, etc.)
Assist women and families during meal time, transport, daily activities, breaks and regularly scheduled meetings.
Perform housekeeping tasks, including preparing snacks and lunches, laundry, vacuuming, mopping, emptying garbage, transporting guest belongings, etc.
Maintain safety by ensuring doors are secure at all times.
Provide exceptional customer service, interacting with guests and their children in a friendly, professional, and hospitable manner, treating everyone with dignity and respect.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Current CTA 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade female high school student (or graduated in May).
Minimum GPA of 2.0.
Good school behavior record.
Ability to take and follow directions from staff.
Developing organizational, prioritization, and time‑management skills.
Developing collaboration and communication skills.
Detail‑oriented.
Culturally competent and relational, with suitable interpersonal communication and mentoring skills.
Ability to work effectively with others.
Accepting of supervisor direction, correction and feedback.
Enthusiastic with a positive attitude and readiness to be a team player.
Reliable in work attendance and punctuality.
Can handle physical workload: stand for long periods, walk, climb stairs, kneel, squat, crouch, reach, lift/repeatedly move items up to 25 lbs over a short distance, and push/pull heavier items using a cart or dolly.
Continue developing a genuine concern for the salvation and spiritual welfare of those encountered through the ministry of MRM, seeking to model and share the hope of the gospel within the established responsibilities of this position.
Workplace demeanor consistent with a Christian church environment: civil, respectful, polite, and responsive.
Regular attender of an evangelical church whose theology aligns with our Statement of Faith and Statement of Biblical Convictions.
Agree with and subscribe to the MRM Statement of Faith and the MRM Statement of Biblical Convictions.
Committed follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, evidenced in personal testimony and Christian conduct.
Pass a pre‑employment background check and drug test.
