Position Summary
The Associate Director for Instructional Technology will provide leadership and direction in the effective use of instructional technology at the Adams School of Dentistry. This key role involves planning, organizing, administering, and evaluating instructional technology services to increase efficiency and productivity in the School’s academic goals. Responsibilities include supervising classroom support consultants, collaborating with the Academic Support Center, the Office of Information Technology, and various academic departments, and managing instructional systems such as learning management systems (LMS), testing software, and classroom hardware/software.
Essential duties include:
Leading the integration of contemporary and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning.
Providing instructional design and technology training to faculty, staff, and students.
Monitoring, assessing, selecting, and deploying technologies to meet current and future needs.
Communicating technology updates and managing instructional technology project budgets and timelines.
Coordinating classroom instructional technology setup and responding to support needs.
Ensuring compliance with CODA accreditation standards and preparing required documentation.
Designing, creating, maintaining, and tracking high‑level curricular projects including AI and other emerging technology initiatives.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Relevant post‑baccalaureate degree required (or foreign equivalent). Candidates with a bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience in instructional technology, curriculum development, or distance education design may also be considered.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience providing instructional technology support in a higher education environment.
Collaboration with faculty and direct support to instructors.
Technical expertise in LMS utilization, test administration, and instructional technology tools such as Panopto, Echo 360, Poll Everywhere, Articulate 360, Canvas, and classroom hardware/software.
Successful experience in project management.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Master’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, or related discipline.
Three or more years of experience in teaching, educational testing, or instructional design and curriculum development.
Experience in higher education supporting faculty with LMS, lecture capture, multimedia/video production, remote conferencing, AI technologies, and web‑based course tools.
Experience with both PC and Mac platforms.
Designing and delivering solutions to support active learning.
Experience with digital accessibility standards and delivering accessible course content.
Ability to work independently and as a team leader or member.
Project management skills, including scheduling, prioritization, and meeting milestones.
Experience supervising or leading a team.
Teaching experience and experience working with instructional technology vendors are a plus.
