
Logistics Planning Assistant - Onsite

Overview
The Logistics Planning Assistant is responsible for 3rd party carrier set up, lane assignment and load execution with RTP Transportation Management Software (TMS).
Location : 1520 E 8th Street Winona, MN.
Work Schedule : 7:30am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday
Responsibilities
Maintain outside carrier profile, rates, and settings within the TMS.
Interact with the Logistics Operations Manager and other department managers as needed to assure optimum workflow and customer satisfaction is obtained.
Oversee and monitor carrier on time performance.
Recommend TMS setting changes within the TMS.
Assist in the creation of all routing lanes within the TMS for Transfer, Inbound and Outbound.
Recommend changes in carrier “waterfall” order within the TMS.
Monitor carrier performances (rates and service) and make carrier adjustments as needed.
Oversee and process freight assessorial charges and monitor carrier compliance.
Oversee carrier contract and insurance expiration dates within the TMS.
Dispatch of fleet drivers as needed.
Coordinate inbound freight with buyer group and fleet management.
Other duties/responsibilities as assigned, or apparent.
Requirements
Skills and Abilities
Must be capable of multi-tasking and working both as a team and independently.
Must possess strong computer skills (MS Office, Zoom, Google App, Concur), organizational skills, writing skills, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
Must have accurate keyboarding skills and meticulous proofreading skills in the areas of grammar, punctuation, and consistency of format and style.
Must have a willingness and an ability to learn and apply knowledge quickly, particularly regarding specialized software.
Must be well organized and have a strong attention to detail.
Must have general knowledge in the areas of logistics and load planning.
Must have knowledge and experience using Transportation Management Software (TMS) or the ability to learn to use it effectively.
Attendance is an essential function of the job.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Education And Experience
Must have a High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred
Must have a minimum of 1 year in logistics/transportation
Must have experience with TMS software
Must have experience with 3rd party carrier load administration and brokerage processes
Must have strong computer skills
Must have excellent written and verbal communication
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
CONTACTS:
Internal – Continuously (67 - 100%) External – Rarely (1 – 5%) Contacts involve giving or exchanging information of a limited controversial nature.
Work Environment
Required to sit and stand for long periods of time, performing keyboard/computer work.
Operates a computer and other office equipment such as a copy machine and printer.
Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
Talk and hear to coordinate day-to-day phone and in person transactions
Exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, hot and cold weather conditions.
Communicates via phone, email, in person
Exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to hazardous materials as defined by the OSHA Hazard Communication standard
Travel to other Winona locations may be required.
Standard office and warehouse environment. The noise level is low to moderate, due to office and warehouse equipment.
