Overview
A well-established organization in the nonprofit/education sector is seeking a Procurement & Contracts Specialist to support end-to‑end sourcing and contract administration. This role operates within a structured finance function and partners cross‑functionally to manage procurement workflows, vendor relationships, and contract compliance.
Requirements
5+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or contract administration
Backgrounds in paralegal, contracts administration, or procurement with heavy contract exposure
Strong experience reviewing and redlining commercial contracts (not administrative processing)
Ability to clearly articulate a structured approach to contract review, including risk identification and mitigation
Deep understanding of key terms including payment structures, indemnification clauses, and insurance requirements
Demonstrated experience identifying contractual risk and negotiating appropriate protections
Hands‑on ownership of RFP processes and vendor negotiations
Candidates must actively redline and negotiate—this is not a copy/paste or administrative contract role
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate full lifecycle procurement activities including RFP and RFQ development, issuance, and tracking
Evaluate vendor proposals, pricing structures, and service offerings to ensure alignment with organizational standards
Lead contract review, negotiation support, and ongoing contract administration across multiple categories
Manage a high volume of contracts annually with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and timely execution
Monitor vendor performance and recommend improvements related to cost, quality, and delivery
Develop procurement specifications for complex purchases including IT hardware, software, and professional services
Analyze financial data and supplier proposals to assess competitiveness and value
Maintain contract and procurement records within internal systems
Partner cross‑functionally with finance, legal, and operational stakeholders on procurement initiatives
Contribute to process improvement efforts within a legacy systems environment
