General Position Summary:
This is an Intermediate level position that will manage a variety of material management related job functions within the Controls Inventory Control department. The tasks and functional management areas assigned will have increasing complexity and responsibility commensurate with the Controls Inventory Specialist's extent of experience, knowledge, and skill level. The job functions that may be assigned include receiving, inventory control, sales order processing, purchasing, materials cost and supplier source position, customer service, and a variety of departmental administrative tasks.
A successful Controls Inventory Specialist II will support and lead other team members to support Orenco's strategies, core competencies, and core values while further developing and optimizing the Inventory Control Department's processes and resources. A Controls Inventory Specialist II pays close attention to detail in their own work and in the work of others around them, is adept at training others in the department, catches mistakes, and consistently exceeds quality standards while helping others to do so as well.
Essential Functions & KRA (Key Result Areas):
Safety/Culture
Continuously maintains Orenco management's safety, cultural, and professional standards.
Promotes, encourages, and reinforces a positive safety culture, safe practices, and a safe work environment to all employees.
Receiving
Unloads and inspects deliveries.
Follows department SOP (standard operating procedures) for acceptance or
Reviews, reconciles, documents, addresses, and/or reports shipment data to the appropriate buyer.
Verifies SDS (Safety Data Sheet) is attached when required.
Performs incoming and secondary quality inspections.
Enters receipts into GP (GreatPlains) and maintains all related document files.
Prepares, moves, and stocks standard product.
Delivers receipts and items to production staging locations or forwards them to
Repackages and kits bulk deliveries into smaller units of issue.
Provides materials to the administrative
Coordinates freight claims with carriers and Orenco's shipping and accounting
Responsible for transfer truck requirements.
Prepares packaging and pallet specifications for returns.
Evaluates current quality control procedures, proposes changes, and prepares SOP (standard operating procedures) for management review.
Prepares and maintains controlled inventory material specifications as required.
Inventory Control
Maintains production inventory levels for OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing), custom, and standard shops.
Processes traveler requests.
Provides internal customer support related to inventory identification, location, and withdrawal.
Investigates and corrects physical and electronic inventory discrepancies.
Enters and posts all non-scanned inventory items.
Supports the production departments material handling activities.
Receives and processes all production departments inventory material support requests.
Notifies material handlers when materials are ready for pick-up and delivery.
Performs and maintains inventory cycle counting in GP.
Maintains the inventory placard barcode scanning system.
Manages the vendor inventory consignment program.
Manages the obsolete inventory program.
Facilitates and secures production materials when insufficient on-hand balances occur. Tracks inventory usage and reports data to management.
Works with management to lay out raw material, spare parts, and production inventory locations throughout the facility.
Buying
Position will train in and perform mid-level buying, duties will include:
Purchasing
Cost evaluations
Accounting
Resource responsibilities
Customer Service/Administration
Attends and actively participates in team meetings.
Supports all process, procedures, and lean initiative improvement activities.
Provides new team member training for this position.
Performs any clerical activity necessary to support department functions.
Provides backup and additional support to team members during absences.
Follows all safety procedures.
Maintains equipment and keeps work area clean and free of safety hazards.
Work is to be done during manufacturing business hours, which may include an occasional early and/or later shift as needed. Occasional long hours may be required.
Regular, consistent, and predictable attendance is required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
At least two years related experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
Two years, or more, experience in similar manufacturing and production control interfacing systems.
Knowledge of MSDS/SDS (material safety data sheet/safety data sheet) and Hazcom (or Hazard Communications) systems.
Forklift certification (certification training provided).
Experience using Excel, Word, and GP software.
Basic office and office machine skills.
Basic arithmetic skills.
Basic knowledge of financial reports and systems.
May require occasional travel.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy.
Ability to be flexible and adjust to priority changes with little notice and to remain calm during stressful, confrontational, and/or high-pressure situations.
Ability to use sound judgement and follow-through in problem-solving and decision-making processes.
Must have satisfactory driving record, maintain valid driver's license, and current insurance on personal vehicle if used for business. Must meet company insurability requirements.
