Buffalo, NY – new facility in the Western New York Science & Technology Advanced Manufacturing Park (STAMP). Salary Range: $60,000 – $87,000. Compensation may vary based on qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
Role Overview
The Senior Machine Maintenance Technician at Edwards Vacuum ensures reliability and optimal performance of production equipment in our dry pump manufacturing environment. Focus on preventive and corrective maintenance for CNC machining centers, robotic assembly systems, PLC‑controlled equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, testing rigs, and paint shop operations. Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to minimize downtime and support factory layout and equipment relocation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment to ensure operational reliability.
Maintain CNC machines (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens controls), robotic assembly systems, PLC‑controlled systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, testing equipment, and paint shop systems.
Monitor equipment performance and operating parameters to ensure optimal functionality and uptime.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system failures in production and facility equipment.
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Conduct inspections and document findings on a daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Work closely with Advanced Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering teams to support site layout planning and equipment relocation.
Participate in cross‑functional teams to review completed repairs and recommend improvements to reduce downtime and increase mean time between failures.
Support integration of new equipment into existing production lines, ensuring proper setup, calibration, and operational readiness.
Contribute to the implementation and ongoing improvement of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure that only properly trained personnel operate equipment within the facility.
Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements during maintenance and equipment handling.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, promoting a culture of safety and accountability.
Physical Demands
This role requires precision handling of tools and machinery, with prolonged physical engagement.
Hand and finger use/dexterity: continual or almost continual use (89% of the time).
Standing/walking: upright stationary position continually or almost continually (62% of the time).
Moving objects/lifting/carrying: frequent transport and installation of materials and tools.
Bending/twisting/reaching: less than half the time (31%).
Repetitive motions: continual or almost continual (46%).
Environmental factors: exposure to hazardous equipment and noise daily (43‑62%); protective equipment worn daily (94%).
Qualifications
HS Diploma required; Applied Sciences 2‑year degree preferred.
Proven experience in maintaining CNC five‑axis machines, robotics, and PLC programming.
Extensive knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.
Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing complex mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
Proven experience with CMMS platforms and maintenance documentation practices.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a spirit of cooperation.
Minimum of 5 years proven experience with CNC equipment maintenance.
