Testing Clerk.

Responsibilities

Conduct aptitude and qualification examinations for applicants of various Armed Services at the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) and aptitude examinations for students at high schools.

Administer, proctor, and score applicant exams ensuring quality and integrity of examination practices and procedures.

Brief applicants on military examination procedures and eligibility requirements.

Maintain strict accountability and security of all testing materials and equipment.

Answer phone and e‑mail queries from recruiters, liaisons, applicants, and other management personnel.

Operate a variety of office automation equipment.

Conditions of Employment

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

Must be in possession of and/or have ability to obtain and/or maintain a driver’s license.

Handles accountable test material and may conduct test sessions at remote sites, including high‑school testing at inner‑city, rural, and at‑risk schools with large populations (greater than 100 students).

Occasional evening and weekend work required; evenings may run 1130‑2000, Saturdays 0530‑1430, Sundays 1400‑2000, morning opening shift 0530‑1430.

Frequent local travel and occasional temporary duty (TDY) may be required.

Specialized Experience

One year of experience conducting standardized examination sessions in a controlled environment.

Experience briefing applicants on examination practices and procedures.

Experience utilizing automated systems to enter and retrieve data.

Experience safeguarding sensitive or controlled testing materials and applicant packages.

Education
Four years of education above the high‑school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college, or university.

Foreign education must be evaluated by a private organization and deemed equivalent to an accredited U.S. education program, or credit must be given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.

Additional Requirements

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre‑Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

Proof of U.S. citizenship required.

This position requires a one‑year probationary period during which the agency evaluates fitness and performance.

Direct deposit of pay is required.

Salary and Benefits
Salary includes applicable locality pay or local market supplement.
