The Middle Georgia State University School of Aviation is a nationally recognized leader in aviation education. The Aviation Maintenance Technology and Aircraft Structural Technology programs offer both degree and certificate options. In addition, aviation related training is available to high school students through dual enrollment opportunities.
Job Summary
This position is primarily responsible for teaching aviation maintenance courses to both traditional college students and high school dual enrollment students. Lecturers will be expected to have the skill set to teach in both the Aviation Maintenance Technology program, as well as the Aircraft Structural Technology program. Teaching duties will require both the ability to present theory through lecture, as well as demonstrate skills, and manage students in a shop environment. This is a full-time, 10-month faculty position in the Department of Aviation Maintenance and Structural Technology.
Responsibilities
Teach various Aviation Maintenance Technology courses in areas to include all the FAA curriculum included in the Airman Certification Standards (FAA-S-ACS-1).
Teach courses in the Aircraft Structural Technology program. This will require proficiency in sheet metal and composite construction and repair.
Advise aviation students on academic and career aspirations.
Develop course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, tests, and lab projects.
Maintain working lab/shop environments, and training aids.
Evaluate student achievement and competence.
Collaborate with faculty and occupational advisory committee.
Periodically help with recruitment of students by attending K-12 career fairs and conducting on campus tours.
Required Qualifications
Associate's degree required in Aviation or field related to teaching discipline.
AA - Airframe & Powerplant Certification required.
Demonstrate ability to teach a broad array of aviation training courses.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
Teaching experience in aviation.
Industry experience in aviation maintenance.
